Full Time • APCO International - Daytona Beach
 
The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International is seeking an individual for the position of Instructional Designer.  This position will report to the APCO Institute Director working from the Daytona Beach office. 

 About APCO:
APCO International is the world’s oldest and largest organization of public safety communications professionals and supports the largest U.S. membership base of any public safety association. It serves the needs of public safety communications practitioners worldwide - and the welfare of the general public as a whole – by providing complete expertise, professional development, technical assistance, advocacy and outreach. 

 The Position:

 The following are general descriptions of the essential job tasks of the position. Other related tasks may be assigned as necessary and appropriate.

  • Design, develop, and revise instructional materials, including course outlines, lesson plans, multimedia content, assessments, and job aids. 
  • Apply instructional design theories, practices, and methods to create engaging and effective learning experiences. 
  • Develop courses, e-learning modules, and blended learning solutions using a variety of authoring tools and learning management systems (LMS). . 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional materials and programs and Implement revisions.
  • Manage multiple program development projects simultaneously by prioritizing project deadlines. 
  • Track program development life cycles, ensuring any problems are addressed, escalated when needed, and resolved quickly. 
  • Complete special projects as directed by the Institute Director 
 
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, Education, or related field (master’s degree preferred) or 2-5 years of experience in instructional design or a related area.  

Demonstrated expertise in technical writing, training course curriculum  instruction.  

 Preferred Qualifications:

Education or experience in non-profit and or member association education and training.

Knowledge or experience in public safety communications or other public service roles.

Applicable industry certifications such as Quality Matters, Association for Talent Development, Learning and Performance Institute, American Council on Education, Institute for Credentialing Excellence, The Society for Standards Professionals, or other related competency based credentials. 

Familiarity with career and technical education, leadership development or standards development. 

Compensation: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
